Balloon at sea

The PACA Marine Cluster submitted the SECULMER project to the Single Inter-ministerial Fund. The aim of this project is to support the development of sea rescue equipment.

The SECULMER project intends to develop portable equipment to locate persons or objects lost at sea. This involves an inflatable balloon, of a specific colour, with a flashing light to ensure an easy location. It has been designed in order to keep afloat in the event of winds blowing at 50km/h.It is intended to be used for professional, civilian and military navigation as well as pleasance navigation, measurement equipment and beacons.
This project is undertaken by ULMER Aeronautics (a new member of the Marine Cluster, established at Sophia-Antipolis) in partnership with Air Liquide (Grenoble), Uship (Auray), Onera (92), Ifremer (Brest) and Voiles Russo (Hyères).
The clients identified include the French Navy, the National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM), the Maritime Prevention Institute (IMP) and the Centre of Documentation, Research and Experimentation on accidental water pollution (CEDRE).
This project submitted at the sixth call for tenders for Single Inter-ministerial Fund (FUI) projects, is also supported by the Brittany Competitivity Marine Cluster.
